Why Tenerife is the Perfect MICE Destination

When people think of Tenerife, the largest and most populated island of the Canary Islands, a picture of beaches, sun and palm trees will more than likely spring to mind. Of course this beautiful island is one of the best places in the world to visit if you’re looking for plenty of sun, sand and sea. What many probably don’t realise though is that Tenerife is also the perfect MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) destination!

But isn’t this just a place to head to for topping up your tan and lounging by the ocean or hotel pool all week? In short, no! Undoubtedly there are those that travel to Tenerife specifically for a relaxing week of sunbathing, but the island has so much more to offer. For starters there is a large population (almost 900,000) with a large number involved in a whole host of businesses, a substantial amount of which are not simply related to tourism, unlike smaller travel locations.

Tenerife has many excellent features which make it stand out as one of the best MICE destinations in not only Europe, but the world:

Excellent Connections/Transport

The island has superb connections, with two modern international airports (Tenerife South and North). These serve a variety of different airlines with direct flights to most major airports across Europe at very affordable prices (especially out of peak holiday travel periods). There is also the possibility of direct flights to the United States in the near future.

In terms of transport within the island, there is a reliable, frequent and cheap public bus service, many affordable private airport transfer companies and a number of different competing international car rental companies. There is also a well-maintained, modern road system including a highway between the North and South, making travel within the island fast, safe and convenient.

Wide Variety of Top-Quality Accommodation

Due to the millions of tourists that visit Tenerife every year, there is a huge range of top-class accommodation across the island, with excellent facilities. These include large hotels and resorts, to smaller boutique hotels and private accommodation which can be found in almost every area of the island, in both popular urban locations and more secluded rural spots.

The dated perception of Tenerife is as a no-frills destination, with low-price places to stay, but lacking any real quality. This is very far from the truth though, as although there is accommodation to suit those on a lower budget, there are many luxurious hotels and resorts to suit business travellers, such as the stunning 5 Star Hotel Suite Villa Maria located in La Caleta, Adeje.

Superb Venues

Across the island there are a whole host of superb venues suitable for either smaller more intimate conferences and gatherings, such as for your work team, or larger scale venues perfect for bigger exhibitions and events. Many of the best hotels and resorts such as Hotel Suite Villa Maria have top class conference areas, with all the facilities you will need for a high-end event.

For larger scale exhibitions such as trade shows, there are modern, wonderfully designed and maintained venues such as the Magma Arte & Congresos centre which is used for a variety of different cultural exhibitions throughout the year. This is a uniquely designed building excellenly suited for really adding a special feel to an event.

Amazing Activities and Attractions

Tenerife has some beautiful beaches, but as a destination it is so much more than just these. Across the whole island there are incredible things to see, do and experience which will really make a corporate trip stand out. There is breathtaking natural beauty such as Mount Teide and Teide National Park, the incredible Masca Gorge, the stunning cliffs of Los Gigantes and the gorgeous Anaga forest to name a few.

There is also a real mixture of different architectural styles dotted around, from the ultra modern in the newer resorts, to the older and more unique buildings to be found in the many picturesque towns across the island. With the well maintained road system and excellent availability of rental cars, most of these are fairly easily accessible.

As well as all these fascinating places to explore and discover (both natural and man-made), there are also a huge number of brilliant activities and excursions to be tried out such as sea-kayaking, whale and dolphin watching, paragliding, tree top walks and zip-lining, water parks, helicopter flights and much more!

Beautiful Climate

Although clearly the beautiful climate in Tenerife is by no means the only amazing feature of the island, it is hard not to be impressed by the bright blue sky and warm sunny temperature almost the entire year round. With an average annual temperature of 23°C and barely a grey sky in sight, any time of year is the perfect time to arrange meetings, conferences or exhibitions in Tenerife.

It is not without merit that the climate in the Canary Islands is described as the best in the world. It rarely gets too hot in the summer and hardly ever too cold in the winter, instead seemingly blessed with an eternal spring like climate. This means you will see people strolling around comfortably in shorts and t-shirt almost any day of the year. This makes Tenerife ideal for outdoor events such as music concerts and festivals.

Perfect MICE Destination

As you can see, Tenerife is the perfect MICE destination and is far from the typical stereotype of a cheap, beach destination with little more than sun, sand and sea. This is an island filled with potential and growth. If you would like more information about hosting your next meeting, conference or exhibition in Tenerife, then make sure to contact us here at Tenerife Magazine. We look forward to hearing from you!

Why Now is the Perfect Time to Visit Tenerife

So you think you know Tenerife? It’s all beaches, bars and sunburnt tourists right? Well if that’s your only perception right now it’s time to totally reconsider this beautiful island paradise. It is the  largest and most populated of the seven main Canary Islands and with around five million visitors each year, it is also the most popular tourist destination of the Spanish archipelago. In fact it is one of the most important Spanish and global travel and tourism destinations in the world. What you will realise is Tenerife is so much more than first meets the eye.

Of course one of the biggest draws of Tenerife, along with all of the Canary Islands is the amazing year-round spring like climate. It is not an overstatement to say that there is sunshine and bright blue skies almost every single day of the year, with very little variation in the temperature whichever month you choose to go. You can practically stroll around in shorts and t-shirt whether you choose to visit Tenerife in the winter or summer with a winter average of 18ºC in winter and 23ºC in the summer. This is in stark contrast to the rest of Europe!

While there are undoubtedly those that visit Tenerife to spend a week laying on the beach or by the pool getting sunburnt and drinking cheap beer, we know that most of you are looking for a far more interesting and exciting vacation. We are here to tell you why now is the perfect time to visit Tenerife.

Action Packed Water Parks:

The amazing year round climate in Tenerife lends itself perfectly to outdoor activities and fun. The island boasts a number of excellent water parks which are great for all age groups, and are perfect for a day out as a couple, with a group of friends or with your family. Not only that, but you will find Siam Park, voted the best water park in the world for the fourth consecutive year in the TripAdvisor 2017 Travelers’ Choice Awards!

Plenty of Activities to Enjoy on the Beautiful Atlantic Ocean:

The beautiful climate of Tenerife also offers the perfect opportunity to get out onto the open ocean waves. There are a number of excellent activities to try out to suit many different interests. For those looking for an adrenaline fuelled adventure you can try jet-skiing with West Tenerife.

If you want a more relaxing activity where you can take in your surroundings more peacefully, including seeing beautiful dolphins in the wild you should definitely try out kayaking with Tenerife in Kayak.

For those of you that prefer to sit back and relax and let someone else take care of the sailing, then you can enjoy a luxurious VIP sailing adventure with Blue Jack Sail.

The waters around the Canary Islands are some of the best in the world for whale and dolphin watching, and one of the most established companies in Tenerife for an excursion to see these magnificent ocean animals is Freebird Catamaran.

Discover Life Under the Ocean Waves:

It’s not just above the waves that are amazing, but down below the surface the ocean is teaming with wonderful aquatic life. There are many different ways to experience the fascinating wildlife that exists there, but surely one of the most unique must be in a submarine! Tenerife has one of the only submarines in the world that is available for tourist excursions, operated by the fantastic Submarine Safaris.

Experience the Incredible Natural Beauty of the Island:

Tenerife itself is an incredibly diverse island with amazing natural beauty. This includes a stunning coastline with beautiful beaches, natural pools and gorgeous palm tree lined promenades. While most people head to the coastline of the island, especially in the sunnier South, you definitely shouldn’t miss out on the stunning inland landscape.

As with all of the Canary Islands, Tenerife is a volcanic island with a multitude of mountains. This includes Mount Teide which stands at an amazing height of 3,718-metres, making it not only the highest point in Spain, but also the highest point above sea-level in the islands of the Atlantic. It is described as the third-tallest volcanic structure in the world by UNESCO and NASA.

As you ascend up Mount Teide away from the coast the vegetation changes from palm trees to pine forests and you will truly get to appreciate how diverse this amazing island really is. The surroundings and the volcano comprise Teide National Park, the most visited national park in Spain and Europe. If you are looking for somewhere amazing and unique to explore on your next vacation to Tenerife, then you absolutely must take a hiking trip around Teide National Park. For a variety of excellent specialised tours and activities on Mount Teide and around Teide National Park, then head over to the Volcano Teide website.

See Stunning Tenerife from the Air:

To experience how stunning the landscape of Tenerife is from a completely unique perspective, you should definitely consider heading up into the air. From up above you can take in much more of the island at once and see it in a way that most other visitors will not have ever tried before. There are a variety of options available to suit different tastes. If you are looking for an adrenaline packed adventure, then you will absolutely love a paragliding flight with Airsports Tenerife.

If you are looking to soar above Tenerife in a more luxurious style but still with the stunning views from above, then choose a helicopter flight with Helidream Helicopters.

Enjoy An Up Close Encounter With Incredible Animals:

As well as the animals native to the Canary Islands, you can also enjoy an up close encounter with incredible animals at a number of excellent zoos in Tenerife. One in particular, Loro Parque, is especially worth a trip to considering it was rated the Number One Best Zoo in the World in the TripAdvisor 2017 Travellers Choice Awards.

A Huge of Variety of Excellent Places to Eat and Drink:

While you can come to Tenerife and simply eat and drink at the onsite restaurants and bars in the hotel or resort you decide to stay at, or alternatively go to the same boring British themed pubs and Irish bars, we definitely don’t recommend this. Instead there are a huge selection of excellent places to eat and drink across the island to suite all different tastes and price ranges.

These include restaurants with Spanish, British, Asian, Italian, Mexican, French and traditional Canarian cuisines and a whole host of other styles. One excellent choice, especially for those who are partial to top quality American style meat dishes is Brunelli’s Steakhouse located in Puerto de la Cruz.

Huge Selection of Stunning Places to Stay:

Too many people in the past have chosen to stay in large, boring all-inclusive resorts when visiting the Canary Islands. While these can serve a certain purpose as they take some of the stress out of holidaying for families, with less to worry about with all meals provided. Unfortunately what often happens is that those who choose to stay in all-inclusive resorts don’t end up experiencing much of the amazing things that Tenerife has to offer as they tend to stay most of the time in the resort. This means that these tourists don’t see the real Tenerife and also this is very negative for many of the businesses across the island.

Instead here at Tenerife Magazine, we recommend staying in hotels and resorts that are not all-inclusive, and also of course for you to explore the island and try many of excursions that we have suggested. One of the best hotels on the island is the gorgeous luxury 5* Hotel Suite Villa María located in La Caleta, Adeje.

As you can tell there are so many amazing things to see, do and experience in Tenerife. While you will undoubtedly enjoy the sun, sand and sea, the island is so much more than the typical stereotypes you may have heard. Make 2018 the year you decide to discover the true nature of this sun-filled Spanish paradise!

This Year’s Walk For Life Event Was A Huge Success

Here at Tenerife Magazine, as well as helping you to discover the very best of what this wonderful island has to offer, we also love to support great causes. Too often the mainstream media paints a picture of doom and gloom around the world. So much of the news that we are shown on TV and in newspapers suggests that people have lost all humanity and simply don’t care about each other. In fact, this couldn’t be further from the truth, as shown by the much loved and well attended Carrera por la Vida/ Walk for Life event here in Tenerife. What’s more, this year’s event was the most popular and well attended yet!

Instead of society becoming apathetic about important issues, this shows that huge numbers of people care more than ever and are prepared to come together to prove this in support of great causes. At this year’s Carrera por la Vida there were 4,500 people who went on the walk, with over 20.000€ raised for charity! This was an absolute record for this well loved event that is great for all the family, with kids and adults of all ages taking part. There were also more volunteers this year than in previous years which was also fantastic to see.

Carrera por la Vida/ Walk for Life was originally started and organised 13 years ago by the hugely dedicated Brigitte Gypen to help raise money and awareness for treatment for breast cancer. While this remains the main focus of the money donated, funds were also raised this year for other hugely important charities: Km Solidario (aecc cancer bus), Amate (Asociacion de Cancer de Mama de Tenerife), and Fero (cancer research on liquid biopsy). Money was also raised for the Foundation Walk for Life project which will be presented in the next few weeks; a new project that will benefit all those who have suffered from mastectomy.

What this large and growing turnout has proved once again is how important an issue this is for people across Tenerife. Cancer is a terrible disease that is estimated will affect one in two people in their lifetimes across the world. Events such as the Carrera por la Vida/ Walk for Life are absolutely vital for raising donations to help fund research to combat this disease and raise awareness on how to catch it early for more effective treatment.

Once again we would like to offer a huge thanks from all of the team here at Tenerife Magazine to Brigitte Gypen and her team and all of the volunteers for organising such an excellent event. The positive spirit of everyone taking part was so clear to see, with a party like atmosphere enjoyed by all along the whole walk. We are sure that this event will continue to go from strength to strength, gaining in popularity and increasing donations for this worthy cause.

It should be noted that donations are supervised by a Notary – this year it was Don Nicolas Castilla Garcia – who also attended on a voluntary basis on the day.

To find out more about Carrera por la Vida see their website: http://www.carreraporlavida.com/ and follow them on Facebook.

Why You Need to Try Paragliding with Airsports Tenerife

If you’ve never been paragliding before (or even if you have), then you definitely need to try with Airsports Tenerife for an absolutely epic experience! Tenerife is almost certainly one of the best places in the world to enjoy this amazing sport, with a wonderful climate all year round offering excellent conditions and breathtaking views.

Don’t worry if you are a complete beginner though as you will not be alone! These are tandem flights with an extremely experienced, professional and safety conscious team. There is an international mix to the team, representing the best from the UK, Sweden, France and Italy with a combined flying experience on Tenerife of almost 30 years!

Clearly with this much experience you are in extremely safe hands and as should obviously be the way, your safety is the number one priority for the team, followed closely by providing you with the best possible flight experience. There are a number of different competing companies on Tenerife, due to it being one of the best paragliding locations. Despite this, Airsports Tenerife certainly stands out due to their exceptional service and consideration for the safety and enjoyment of their clients.

Whereas other companies take a more rushed approach, sometimes taking off in less than desirable conditions, while aiming to maximise their profits, Airsports Tenerife owner Simon Fulford and his team on the other hand are not purely driven by profit and instead offer a more personal experience. They will only take you on a flight if the conditions are optimal for safety and the best views/wind speed etc. This is achieved by not trying to pack so many flights in per day.

Pre flight pic!Simon and his friendly team are also happy to have a drink and chat with clients at the wonderful beach bar next to where you land. Depending on the time of day, you may even be greeted with some live music and a gorgeous sunset if you’re lucky. It’s these more personal touches that really make the difference between a company being average or even good and one that is great like Airsports Tenerife.

So if you are visiting Tenerife or living here on the island and want to give paragliding a try, you should absolutely contact Simon and his team. Don’t hesitate, get in touch with them today!

Why Oasis Los Gigantes is the Perfect Place for a Great Day Out

Tenerife is full of wonderful places to spend a day either with a group of friends or family, as a couple or by yourself. In fact here at Tenerife Magazine, we are often telling people how much more there is to do on the island than what most imagine. You can go stargazing up Mount Teide, one of the highest volcanoes in the world, explore incredible forests, wander around the many fascinating urban areas dotted around, see whales and dolphins in the wild, go paragliding, take a helicopter flight, and a whole host of other amazing experiences!

Despite all of this, we simply cannot deny that Tenerife is an incredible destination to get away from all the stress of everyday life, with gorgeous blue skies and warm sunny weather to enjoy! We definitely recommend exploring some of the island to get a true idea of all that Tenerife has to offer, but if you are looking for a relaxing day, then Oasis Los Gigantes is the perfect place for a great day out. While most hotels and resorts you may choose to stay at have a pool, there are few that offer anything that even manages to get close to this awesome setting and atmosphere.

This fantastic leisure center is located in the wonderful town of Los Gigantes in the South-West of the island. The town derives its name from the Ancantilados de Los Gigantes (Cliffs of the Giants). If you have never been to Los Gigantes before, the first time you see these cliffs you will see why their name needs no explanation; they are absolutely enormous!! In fact, these are some of the highest sea cliffs in the world and are definitely one of the most impressive sights in not just Tenerife but all of the Canary Islands.

As soon as you enter Oasis Los Gigantes you will be treated to a gorgeous setting with verdant green grass, beautiful tall palm trees and many other wonderful plants that really gives a tropical feel. While much of Tenerife can be quite dry, especially in the south and towards the coast, Oasis really does live up to its name as it stands out as an oasis of green and blue in contrast to the surrounding dry landscape and buildings.

The main attraction, of course, is the impressive infinity pool which has absolutely incredible views. It’s no exaggeration to say that there are few swimming pools in the Canary Islands with such a stunning panoramic vista. When you are swimming or relaxing in the pool you will be directly surrounded by palm trees, green grass, the poolside bar and plenty of sun loungers for topping up your tan.

From the infinity side of the pool, there is a spectacular view out to the ocean, while gazing towards the beach style entrance at the other end of the pool outwards you will be astounded by the incredible Ancantilados de Los Gigantes rising majestically from the water. The views are so incredible that they barely seem real and almost certainly beats staying at your hotel pool.  We’re in no doubt that this setting will leave you feeling totally relaxed!

https://www.instagram.com/p/BZb4iT8FBiB/?taken-by=dzovili

Oasis Los Gigantes is much more than just a pool and views though. There is ample space all around for relaxing on sun loungers, either at the newly renovated terrace area next to the pool or on the verdant green grass under the palm trees where you can really enjoy that tropical oasis vibe. For those that enjoy a little more privacy and luxury, there are beautiful Bali beds which can be booked. These are set away from the main chill out areas, with some located down steps near the infinity side of the pool with views out to the ocean.

There is another even more private gated VIP area with a Deluxe Bali bed and sun-bathing area with sun loungers, and your own shower. Here, in this quieter setting away from the pool and behind the grass and palm trees you will be treated to exclusive views out to the ocean and incredible Los Gigantes cliffs. You can relax here in complete tranquility and even close the curtains on the Bali bed for that added feeling of privacy.

The main saltwater pool is perfect for swimming or simply relaxing at the infinity end, admiring the views. It is also safe for older children and teenagers with its beach style entrance on one side which gradually slopes down on the opposite end from the infinity side. As well as having a beautiful setting, the pool is also a lot of fun for adults and kids alike with a brand new slide which you’ll be sure to find yourself zipping down multiple times during your day at Oasis. For the younger kids, there is a super fun children’s pool with plenty of water games that the kids will be sure to love!

If you start to get thirsty or hungry, then at Oasis Los Gigantes you will be well catered for, either at the pool-side bar which has a variety of different hot and cold beverages including beers, cocktails, soft drinks, fruit juices, coffee or tea. You can enjoy your drinks at the bar seating area looking out to sea or take your drinks back to your sun lounger, the choice is entirely yours.

At the restaurant, you will be spoilt for choice with a huge variety of different meals to suit all different tastes and preferences including a variety of different starters, salads, meat and fish dishes, pasta, pizza, hamburgers, tortillas, paella and more. There is also a children’s menu, plus delicious desserts to finish off for an added bit of indulgence.

Speaking of added indulgence, to ease any aches and pains you may be feeling from that stressful job back home, you can enjoy total relaxation with a massage which can be booked onsite. If you are feeling a bit more energetic, as well as swimming and sliding down the pool, you can also play a game of bowls or tennis.

As you can probably tell, Oasis Los Gigantes is a lot more than just a pool with a view, but an awesome leisure centre with an amazing setting where you can do as little or as much as you choose, indulge in some luxury and enjoy some quality time with your friends, family or significant other. It really is the perfect place for a great day out!

A Simple and Useful Guide to Los Gigantes in Tenerife

Tenerife is definitely one of the best destinations in the world to visit and also an amazing place to live. It is such a diverse and unique island which will surprise and delight you with all the amazing things to see, do and experience. Here at Tenerife Magazine, we like to help you uncover the many incredible features of the island, rather than spending all your time at your hotel or resort. We know how tempting a week sunbathing by the pool can be, but to truly experience the real Tenerife and all it has to offer we suggest spending plenty of time exploring.

If you’re looking for amazing places to visit or to stay in and aren’t feeling particularly adventurous though (although Tenerife is perfect for exciting adventures), then you won’t go wrong with the gorgeous seaside resort town of Los Gigantes.

Location:

The town of Los Gigantes is located on the stunning south-west coast of the island which is bathed in beautiful sunshine almost all year round. Unlike other parts of the island where the weather can be a little less predictable, you will almost certainly find blue skies and the spring-like temperatures that Tenerife is world famous for. Even during winter months, you can still enjoy strolling around during the day in shorts and t-shirt and sunny days at the beach or by the pool.

The town is in the municipality of Santiago del Teide and is just a short distance from Puerto de Santiago and Playa de la Arena, two other lovely holiday resorts. It is also only around 30 kilometers away from the livelier resorts of Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos which are easy to reach by car, or the convenient and frequent direct bus route.

Acantilados de Los Gigantes

The town is named after the absolutely incredible Acantilados de Los Gigantes (“Cliffs of the Giants”) situated just north of the town. The first time you see these 500 meter high cliffs in real life you will see that they really do live up to their name.  They completely show off the immense power of nature, and we can almost guarantee you will be awestruck at their size and beauty!

The town is perfect for either a day trip to see these cliffs and the many other fantastic features, or for a longer stay of a week or more with many hotels and holiday apartments. There are also a variety of houses and apartments for rental or sale if you choose to make the town your home which we are sure you might be tempted to after a visit.

Peaceful and Exclusive Atmosphere:

Los Gigantes offers the best of both worlds: being relatively quiet and perfect for a peaceful holiday or place to live, but also still with many places to enjoy with live music acts and plenty of things to do. Unlike other parts of the island such as Playa de Las Americas and Los Cristianos which have a whole host of bars and nightclubs and have a livelier, loud party atmosphere, Los Gigantes, and surrounding towns are brilliant for families or couples looking for a quieter, more relaxed stay.

All of the resort’s central apartment complexes and residential area, with the exception of one multi-story hotel, are low-rise, thus blend in well with their surroundings. Because the town is naturally closed in on all sides, located within natural rocky boundaries and the Atlantic Ocean, there is little chance of it dramatically expanding in any direction and losing its peaceful atmosphere or air of exclusivity.

Main Features:

The streets of Los Gigantes are quiet, safe and narrow, with a one-way system operating throughout most of the town. Most of the time you won’t be disturbed by the constant noise of traffic driving by or masses of crowds. Instead, you will find plenty of excellent restaurants, cafes, and shops that you can enjoy at a much more relaxed pace.

The Amazing Cliffs of Los Gigantes

The main features of the town are the Marina, The Plaza, and the Avenida Maritima main street. There is also the small, clean, black-sand Los Guios beach located next to the Marina. While the beach is perfect for families with kids due to its safety, luckily it is rarely crowded.

Los Gigantes Marina:

At the Marina, you will be able to gaze out at a variety of different boats with an array of different sizes and styles, while enjoying a meal or drinks at the array of excellent bars and restaurants located there. The Marina definitely adds to the feeling of exclusivity and luxury, as you sit with friends and family gazing out the boats bobbing quietly up and down in the water.

To the right, you will be treated to the incredible cliffs rising dramatically out of the water. There are certainly few other places with such an incredible combination of natural and man-made view while you enjoy your meal or drinks. It is easy to while away many hours here in this gorgeous setting and before you will be able to witness a beautiful sunset out on the ocean horizon.

At the Marina, you can also book a variety of different excursions including jet-skiing, scuba diving, fishing trips, sea kayaking, a trip to see dolphins rent a boat and sailing trips. In addition, the taxi boat to and from Masca bay also depart from here, either to collect and bring back those who have hiked down the Barranco, or take out those who want to hike up to Masca village (both of which are amazing hiking excursions).

Los Gigantes Plaza:

This is a pretty, pedestrianized plaza based around the church. Surrounding the plaza are a variety of different bars and restaurants offering a wide variety of different types of meal to suit all tastes. Taking place at the plaza are the majority of town events including the carnival de Los Gigantes (the week after Ash Wednesday).

Recommendations:

Oasis Los Gigantes

A perfect place for a great day out in the town is at the stunning Oasis Los Gigantes leisure center. There are few places on the island that can compete with this center for its gorgeous setting and superb features. It has a beautiful infinity pool with views out to the deep blue Atlantic Ocean, surrounded by verdant green grass and tall palm trees which give that added tropical feel.

If you are used to heading to your local swimming pool leisure center back home in the UK or other northern European countries, then this is a total world away. What’s more, while you relax in the pool with a huge horizon of the ocean in the distance, surrounded by an Oasis of green, there are also the stunning Los Gigantes cliffs in plain, breathtaking view.

As well as the main infinity pool, there is also a huge new slide, a separate children’s pool, a large pool bar with plenty of seating and views out to the ocean, a restaurant with a wide selection of delicious meals, tennis and bowls, and private Bali beds which can be booked for that little bit of extra luxury.

West Tenerife

If you’re looking for an action-packed excursion taking in the incredible sights of the cliffs of Los Gigantes, then you should definitely book a trip with the excellent West Tenerife jet ski excursion company. Based out of the Los Gigantes Marina, the company takes you out on a boat and then you will transfer onto one of their amazing, modern jet-skis for some super fun.

During the trip, you will literally be speeding along beside the giant Los Gigantes cliffs taking in their true splendor. From the town the cliffs are amazing but seen from a jet ski while you speed alongside them, it really is something else. It feels like some kind of fantastic dream, but the wind in your hair and the sound of the jet ski engine reminds you that it’s very real!

This isn’t only a jet ski adventure though, as later on you will meet with another boat and be taken to the Punta Tena to see the lighthouse of Teno. This is also a very interesting area and from here you will be able to snorkel in the clear water and try out the super fun underwater scooter. With this motorized scooter, you can power yourself deep under the water for a unique perspective beneath the waves. Later on, you will jet ski back to the Los Gigantes Marina and enjoy the incredible cliff views again.

As you can tell, Los Gigantes is an amazing place to visit and stay in, with plenty to do, see and experience. This is just a selection of some of the things you can enjoy in this beautiful seaside resort town and we certainly recommend checking it out yourself to experience all that the place has to offer! Make sure to follow us on social media to keep up to date with our recommendations about Los Gigantes and the island in general.

Video Update from Simon Manley, British Ambassador to Spain, on the Negotiations of Citizens Rights Following Brexit

Following the narrow decision by those that voted in last year’s EU Referendum in the UK which unfortunately resulted in victory for those calling for Brexit, there has been real worry among many citizens across the European Union. In the coming years, as the UK begins the unprecedented process of separation from the EU, this leaves a lot of doubt as to the future of those who have chosen to make their lives abroad.

For many of us, the freedom of movement afforded to EU citizens, including the right to live and work abroad has offered huge socio-economic opportunities. People across all EU member states have been able to completely transform their lives either on a temporary or permanent basis, through moving to different EU states. In much of the pro-Brexit press, it was made to seem as if only those from outside of the UK were benefiting from this. In fact there are approximately 1.3 million British expatriates living in other EU member states, including around 319,000 living in Spain (Telegraph, 2017). This of course includes many thousands living and working in the Canary Islands, such as here in Tenerife.

Luckily, despite worries of loss of citizens rights, as things stand at the moment it seems highly unlikely that British expatriates living in other EU nations will be forced to leave or lose their rights to healthcare, or their homes. One of the major reasons for this is to avoid retaliatory measures from the UK, where around 3 million EU citizens are currently living. To avoid diplomatic and economic catastrophe, it is very likely that British citizens will be allowed to carry on living in other EU states and vice versa, even after Brexit has been fully realised. To help allay fears, Simon Manley, the British ambassador to Spain recently released the video statement above regarding negotiations between the British government and the EU parliament.

This is a great relief to all of the British citizens who have chosen to live across Europe. It also shows that Tenerife and the Canary Islands remains a fantastic destination to move to and invest in, especially with such high levels of interest from tourists worldwide. The Canary Islands are more popular than ever and continue to enjoy a massive growth in numbers of visitors, leading to an ever greater boost to the economy. This in turn will lead to further investment by the government of the Canary Islands in infrastructural improvements and other enhancements to life here on these beautiful islands!

Tenerife, the largest and most populated island of the Canary Islands, has an abundance of amazing things to do, see and experience. While Tenerife is quite wrongly perceived by some as a cheap getaway destination only suitable for sunbathing, budget meals and drinks, with little else to do, for anyone who has taken the time to explore the island a bit more, or even do a bit of research before their first visit, it is clear that Tenerife is so much more than sun, sand and sea.

Beautiful @ojmesa with @repostapp ・・・ Tu y yo hemos sido testigos. Lo he visto y lo he respirado. ¿Sabes lo mejor? Ser felíz por la felicidad de ellos. Ya lo sé, el mejor lugar para verlo, junto a tí ✨ #ojmesa #pensamientos #instagood #instadaily #primerolacomunidad #photography #photographer #hallazgosemanal #thediscoverer #thecanaryislands #islascanariasoficial #incredible_shot #ig_photoknarias #igerstenerife #igerscanarias #ig_spain_ #ig_today #soycanario #visit_tenerife #gameofvisuals #gallery_of_all #latituddevida #ok_canarias #ok_mencionados #ok_landscape #canariasexclusive #tenerifemagazine #revistatenerife

5 Photos Showing How Stunning Tenerife Really Is

What springs to mind for so many people when they think of Tenerife and the Canary Islands in general, is sun, sand and sea. You may think you already know the island, perhaps even before you’ve visited, but this is a destination that really has to be seen to be believed.

While we definitely won’t deny that this is a perfect getaway for a beach holiday, with plenty of gorgeous sunny weather at almost any time of the year, this place has so much more than that to offer. Even if you have visited once before or multiple times, there are hidden gems dotted right around the island, that make Tenerife a destination worth both discovering or rediscovering.

Here are 5 showing how stunning Tenerife really is!

Some of the best features of the island are actually located away from the coastline and you will be absolutely astonished by the natural beauty on offer if you’ve never ventured far from the beach. In addition to this, the most beautiful beaches are in most cases not the most popular or  well known among tourists to Tenerife.

At TM we would like to inspire you to truly explore Tenerife and appreciate it for the amazing island that it is which is so much more than just a cheap destination for spending a week by the pool or on the beach. Rather than just staying close to your resort or hotel, rent a car and take a drive or take one of the many bus services to see different parts of the island. We can almost guarantee that you’ll be really glad that you did, because you’ll experience incredible new sights and the memories will last a lifetime. Plus of course you’ll be able to get some incredible photos to make everyone jealous back home.

We love to feature interesting, unique and stunning photos of Tenerife on our Instagram account, so make sure to tag us and add #TenerifeMagazine for a chance to be featured!

Why Tenerife is the Perfect Destination for a Golf Holiday

Whether you are an avid golfer, with a strong passion for the sport, or simply like to enjoy a few relaxed rounds while on holiday, we’re happy to say that Tenerife is the perfect destination for a golf holiday. With a year round warm, sunny and spring-like climate, the conditions are absolutely perfect almost everyday of the year. Unlike much of the rest of Europe and most other places in the world, here in Tenerife you generally won’t have to worry about extreme weather conditions.

If you have a round of golf planned for the next day you can almost be guaranteed of great conditions whether you are here in Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. By contrast, in somewhere like the UK, the weather can be so unpredictable so you never know quite what to expect. In addition to this, unlike some of the other Canary Islands such as Lanzarote, Tenerife has far less wind, meaning one less annoying factor to worry about. Instead you can just concentrate on enjoying a great round of golf amongst gorgeous surroundings. You will be able to enjoy stunning ocean views, palm tree lined courses and the sublime natural beauty of Tenerife such as the incredible volcanic landscape!

At present Tenerife has nine golf courses (two of which are nine hole courses) so there is plenty to choose from. This includes both the North and South of the island with a real variety in styles and design, plus varying difficulty levels and terains across the different courses that Tenerife has to offer. This is yet another reason why Tenerife is a perfect destination for a golf holiday.
