Picture a Holiday at Pearly Grey Ocean Club on Tenerife

Normally we post a review of the hotel that is featured in our fabulous holiday competition. This time, for a change, we thought we’d show rather than tell, so you could begin to imagine yourself ‘in the picture’.

Because this time our Tenerife holiday competition is a little bit different. Sure, come the end of January, there’s going to be one lucky winner picking up the prize of a week’s holiday for two at Pearly Grey Ocean Club on the sunny, south west coast of Tenerife.

But on this occasion the competition comes hand in hand with a great offer for Tenerife Magazine readers that means more than just the lucky winner gets the chance to lap up the warm welcome at Pearly Grey Ocean Club.

However, to find out what that offer is, you’re going to have to enter the competition.

Here’s a pictorial taster of what awaits.

Wake up in paradise where a couple of steps leads to an spot where it’s a joy to come round in the morning.

Your balcony is a great spot for a cobweb clearing coffee but Pearly Grey’s dining room is a quite snazzy alternative.

After breakfast those sunbeds on the balcony beckon…

…unless you’re more of a pool person.

Then in the afternoon, a drink or two on the terrace is an inviting prospect.

Before heading back to your balcony as the sun starts to descend. It’s perfect for allowing yourself to be hypnotised by the views whilst you pinch yourself as a reminder that, no, it isn’t a dream.

Where on Tenerife is this? Photo Challenge #July 2012

We’re in the heart of Tenerife’s fiesta season with firework displays lighting up the skies nearly every night in some parts. As every town, village, hamlet and barrio seems to have a reason for the residents to slip into traditional dress and party, we thought this might be an appropriate choice for July’s photo challenge.

The scale of the fiesta should help narrow it down a bit but the real clue lies in the buildings in the photo. The question, as always, is where on Tenerife is it?

Where on Tenerife is this? Photo Challenge #5 2012

We think May’s photo challenge might prove a bit difficult. To some people this ‘old’ tower may be instantly recognisable. If it is, then it might cause a bit of head scratching and suspicions that there’s trickery afoot or even that a mistake has been made.

There’s no mistake but there might be just a little a bit of trickery surrounding this monument. The question is why? And where exactly on Tenerife is it?

Where on Tenerife is this? Photo Challenge #4 2012

This month’s photo challenge shouldn’t prove too much of a problem for seasoned Tenerife explorers. It’s a relaxing plaza with a bandstand right in the old centre of the town. There’s even a church in the background, rising above the Indian laurels, to help differentiate it from the other plazas with bandstands on Tenerife. Mind you, there’s usually a church in the picture somewhere with all of them.

It’s a lovely spot to chill out in the sun with a café cortado or cool cerveza… but where on Tenerife is it?

Where on Tenerife is this? Photo Challenge #3 2012

Last month’s photo challenge was quickly identified so for March we’ve chosen a place that possibly only the most intrepid of Tenerife explorers may have set eyes upon.

This bullet rock catches the eye because not only is it in an absolutely stunner of a location but also because it is also quite the most outrageous place to build a house. After the impact of seeing it for the first time has worn off, the words that then jump into your head are “Why’ and ‘how’.

Why build houses in such an odd location and how on earth do you get to them? Making your way home here after a night out must be an absolute nightmare… but where on Tenerife, to the nearest village, is it?

Where on Tenerife is this? Photo Challenge #2 2012

This lone construction stands proudly defiant, surrounded by an exquisite display of tumbling flowers.

It is found in a beautiful location in Tenerife and yet every time I’ve been here, there has only ever been a couple of other people. It’s also a popular venue for wedding receptions, providing a dreamily romantic setting. Lit up at night, it is quite magical.

There is an interesting story surrounding why it even exists… but where on Tenerife is it?

Where on Tenerife is this? Photo Challenge #1 2012

This rather grand church is arguably one of the most striking on Tenerife, yet most people have probably never set eyes on it.

There’s been a church here since the beginning of the 17th century and although there are a lot of fine churches around Tenerife, this one has the added bonus of a mature drago tree to add to its appealling good looks, something that should act as a clue to help identification…but only if you’ve been here.

This baroque building is located deep in farming country where potatoes and tomatoes are the main crops…but where on Tenerife is it?
