Tenerife unzipped

One small step for man, one giant leak for mankind. Yes this Tenerife man answered a call of nature at Las Teresitas beach near Santa Cruz, Tenerife, and it ended up in New York!

On Tuesday 10 November, Google launched their Canary Islands version of Street View, where intensive filming at street level enables you to zoom in on a set place as if you were there walking along the road. However there are always a few unseen extras when launching new technology, in this case, they hadn’t  noticed a man watering the rubbish bins at the back of the beach.

This picture appears on The Huffington Post, a well respected and influential New York blog site, and is speeding it’s way around the world at this very moment. Well at least they can’t blame the Brits for this one. If you want to have a wander around Las Teresitas use this link and click on the yellow man, then zoom in and out as you like.

Anybody know who this man is? He’s soon to be a star on both sides of the Atlantic!

  1. Leslie says:

The Ayntamiento have worked out that if they buy their employees Hiperdino beer at 18c a can, it is much cheaper than fertiliser. Council employees have been instructed to drink as much beer as they can and then fertilise barren land. The picture shows a particularly concscientious chap who has taken his work home with him and continued drinking the stuff on his day off (the man deserves a medal).

A fortunate side effect, as you will have also spotted in the photo, is that it turns their pee green. This has allowed the council to apply for an environmetal EC grant and those cunning politicians have decided to form a department whose specific purpose is to manage the environment in this way. Many of the brightest council employees have been seconded to this high priority department (thus explaining why less important departments such as health, education etc are so understaffed).

  2. Brilliant, but are you sure they can’t blame the Brits, Colin? The other part of the photo in the Huffington Post shows his family waiting by the car and I don’t know, but they have a sort of Northern European look to them to me…possibly Brit, German, or Scandinavian.
