Tenerife Photo Challenge #3 – Where in Tenerife is This?

Our last photo challenge might have been a wee bit too obscure, so for this one we’ve decided to head back to the coast to this quaint little fishing community.

In the current searingly hot temperatures, the calm aquamarine harbour of this little village looks like the ideal spot for a cooling swim…but where on Tenerife is it?

Could this be El Medano? I’m not sure, perhaps it’s somewhere in the North. I can’t see Teide in the background so that should tell us something.

I think it’s San Miguel de Tajao.

Looking at the photo, the small beaches didn’t look right for El Medano to me. Google maps fails because the image is blurry over San Miguel de Tajao and the two neighbouring villages but a google image search for San Miguel de Tajao brings up a photo that looks very like this one.

I’ve never been to any of these places but I’m now intrigued to go.

    Hmmm…interesting Martin.

Google street maps is an incredible tool, but it has limitations. I was looking for a place in Santa Cruz, but it was in a pedestrianised area, so it was a no-go for the google man.

Similarly this shot was taken from the sea wall and Google street map stopped at the entrance to the harbour, so no way to confirm for sure with that…but it’s a smart way to try.

    Well deduced :)

Looks like San Juan to me…
