We don’t want any more luxury hotels. We want hotels to bring real tourists, those that go “out” and use bars and restaurants, visit the shops and markets. Bring an end to the “all inclusive” mentality and save the tourist economy of the island.

When I first moved here an estate agent told me that in the 70s on Tenerife everyone opened boutiques because that’s what they thought everyone wanted. Then, when the boutiques lost their gloss, they all opened inmobiliarias…

Now it’s golf courses. If every proposed golf course on Tenerife went ahead, there wouldn’t be anywhere you could walk without getting whacked on the head by a wee white ball.

Monoculture mentality – boom and bust, boom and bust.

I also live in a tourist location and let’s not forget that travel dollars boost the local economy. If you build it, they will come. Which is why your point is spot on about the real reason the peace and tranquility is gone in Costa Adeje.
