Tenerife Ladies Matchplay, the Perfect Training Ground for the Solheim Cup


go to link In September 2011, the US and Europe’s top ladies professional golfers will be making their way to the outstanding beauty of Ireland’s County Meath and the tranquil grandeur of Killeen Castle for the 2011 Solheim Cup. The cup will be held over three days of matchplay competition, the first two days will feature two-member teams and the final day will consist of 12 singles matches.

enter The eyes of the golfing world will be on Ireland to watch the top players from the Ladies European Tour (LET) and the US Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) battle it out on Meath’s emerald greens for this prestigious title. With the US team currently the holders of the Cup having won the last match 16-12 , Europe will be looking to take back the Solheim Cup this year.

click here Trish won by just one shot over the 4 days of play, her first win since 2007, earning herself a tasty 41,250 euros. It was only her 6th start this year due to an elbow problem but this win assures her a place in the prestigious Evian Masters later this month.

Great ball striking and some marvellous shots over the day, she holed a beauty out of a bunker which kept her in front. Johnson slipped to second place behind the French woman on the 13th but fought back with 2 birdies on the 14th and 15th to regain the lead. She pared 16 and 17 to take a 2 shot lead going down the 18th.
