The BGTW members stayed in a number of different hotels, David, in the south and the north as well as other places - some went down well and some didn't. They also took part in a lot of different activities dsigned to show them what was available to visitors who wanted more than the usual sun & sand holiday.

Why take them to Las Americas when that's been the focus of much of the media coverage for the last X number of years? After all it only occupies a tiny, tiny part of the island (and what is the real Las Americas these days anyway - the area around the Safari CC or Veronicas?). Sure show it to them, it is part of Tenerife, but only as part of a much bigger package. As it happened a number ventured into Veronicas.

It would have been completely unrepresentative (and damned annoying to those of us who know that Tenerife is so much more than one purpose built resort) if ALL they had been shown was the cheap end of Las Americas.

Many of them also went exploring on their own.

Why don't you go and stay in a package resort in Las Americas and not the luxurious Bahia Del Duque. Then you can see what rubbish the avrage holidaymaker has to put up with and why people do not come back here! Also go into a tourist restaurant where you are herded in and out and given barely warm food and bad service.

Tenerife is miles behind somewhere like America for making a tourist feel welcome. Customer Service is usually bad to useless in most industries.

I suggest you go see the South Tenerife as a real tourist and not a pampered journalist who is trying to be impressed by the Cabildo.

Great article Andrea, I had the privileged of sitting next to John at the Bahia del Duque gala dinner and thoroughly enjoyed his company.

John is a shaker and a mover not just in the UK travel market but up on stage and showed us his moves with the carnival dancers.
